http://dbpedia.org/ontology/abstract Niki Lauda was an Austrian racing driver wNiki Lauda was an Austrian racing driver who won three Formula One world championships. He entered Formula One in 1971 with the March team, having taken a bank loan out to buy his way into the team. He then spent the following year at the declining BRM, before joining Ferrari in 1974. Over the next four years, he formed a intense rivalry with fellow driver James Hunt, as the two went head-to-head in 1976. Lauda eventually conceded the title to Hunt, with the former suffering a near fatal crash. Lauda won two of his three world championships with Ferrari, in 1975 and 1977. He moved to Brabham in 1978, and eventually retired from the sport in 1979. He returned for a further four years with McLaren, winning his third and final championship in 1984 and retired altogether in 1985. He is the only driver in F1 history to have been champion for both Ferrari and McLaren, the sport's two most successful constructors. Lauda achieved his first victory in Formula One at the 1974 Spanish Grand Prix on 28 April – a first for Ferrari since 1972. He won fifteen races for Ferrari over a four year span. He secured his first championship in only his second season with the Italian team, winning five races during the season, something he achieved three times over his career. In the subsequent two seasons with Ferrari, he won eight more races, and secured his second championship, as well as finishing as runner-up in-between. Lauda managed only two victories in his two years with Brabham, and eight victories with McLaren. His final win in Formula One came at the 1985 Dutch Grand Prix. In all, Lauda won 25 Grands Prix at fifteen different circuits, currently ranking him joint-tenth overall in the all-time Formula One Grand Prix winners' list. Of Lauda's 25 victories, fifteen were with Ferrari using a Flat-twelve engine. Of his remaining ten victories, six were achieved with TAG-Porsche engines, two with Ford Cosworth, and two with Alfa Romeo. He was most successful at Brands Hatch, Kyalami and Circuit Zandvoort, where he won three times at each. His largest margin of victory was 1:05.950 at the 1984 South African Grand Prix, whilst the narrowest margin was at the 1985 Dutch Grand Prix, where he beat Alain Prost by 0.232. Prix, where he beat Alain Prost by 0.232.
