Το Σουηδικό Ινστιτούτο Αθηνών (σουηδικά: S … Το Σουηδικό Ινστιτούτο Αθηνών (σουηδικά: Svenska institutet i Athen; αγγλικά: Swedish Institute at Athens) ιδρύθηκε το 1946 και είναι ένα από τα 19 ξένα αρχαιολογικά ιδρύματα που λειτουργούν στην Ελλάδα. Ακόμη, είναι ένα από τα τρία σουηδικά ερευνητικά ινστιτούτα στη Μεσόγειο, μαζί με το Σουηδικό Ινστιτούτο Κλασικών Σπουδών της Ρώμης και το Σουηδικό Ινστιτούτο Ερευνών της Κωνσταντινούπολης. Το 1975 αναγνωρίστηκε επίσημα ως Ξένη Αρχαιολογική Σχολή και απέκτησε το δικαίωμα διεξαγωγής αρχαιολογικών ερευνών πεδίου σε ελληνικά εδάφη. Το Ινστιτούτο είναι ένα μη κερδοσκοπικό ερευνητικό ίδρυμα. Το διοικητικό του συμβούλιο απαρτίζεται από έναν πρόεδρο που διορίζεται από τη Σουηδική Κυβέρνηση, έναν αντιπρόεδρο, έναν γραμματέα, έναν ταμία και μέλη που εκπροσωπούν την Κλασική Αρχαιολογία, την Ιστορία της Τέχνης και τα Αρχαία Ελληνικά. Η Δρ. Jenny Wallensten είναι διευθύντρια του Ινστιτούτου από το 2017 και η Κα Ruth Jacoby η πρόεδρος του διοικητικού συμβουλίου. Verksamheten finansieras huvudsakligen genom bidrag från det svenska statsdepartementet medan resterande medel härrör från privata forskningsfinansierande stiftelser. I samarbete med det danska, norska och finska institutet driver man sedan 1995 även det Nordiska biblioteket i Athen. It also owns the Nordic Library along with the Danish Institute at Athens, the Finnish Institute at Athens and the Norwegian Institute at Athens. The institute is a non-profit research foundation. The board consists of a chairman appointed by the Swedish Government, a vice-chair, secretary, treasurer, and additional members representing Classical Archaeology, Ancient Greek, and Art History. Since 2017, Jenny Wallensten is the director of the institute and Ruth Jacoby is chairman of the board.
