Pillayar Suzhi (Tamil: பிள்ளையார் சுழி) or … Pillayar Suzhi (Tamil: பிள்ளையார் சுழி) or Ganesha circle is sacred textual symbol usually put at the beginning of diaries, notebooks and invitations before writing anything new. It is predominant in South India and Sri Lanka.It is dedicated to God Ganesha and believed that pillaiyar suzhi is symbol of good starting for everything. It is similar to the Tamil and Malayalam letter உ,ഉ(u). Pillaiyar is the South Indian and Tamil name for God Ganesha, which originally was a question (பிள்ளை யாருடையது?) that later concatenated to one word became his name, translated it means "Whose child is he?". The question arose because of his nature, i.e. his appearance. He is considered as the one who helps any work to get through without any obstructions. He is worshiped first with prayers for success in any event of Hindu religion irrespective of denominations. Sri Vaishnavites believe that this “௳” sign represents Goddess MahaLakshmi and it is an alternative for writing ‘shri-ஸ்ரீ-श्री’ a Sanskrit letter that means the same.
