He has also been an adviser to private equity firms Candover and Actis as well as to Indian technology companies HCL and Zensar. He is chair of the Review Body on Senior Salaries which advises senior UK government officials such as the Prime Minister, Lord Chancellor, Secretary of State for Defence, Secretary of State for Health and the Home Secretary on the pay of senior judges, civil servants, army officers, NHS managers, Police and Crime Commissioners. chief police officers and other senior public appointments.
