Darüber hinaus hilft der JFD dabei, die Japanische Gebärdensprache (englisch Japanese Sign Language, kurz JSL) in das Bildungssystem für Gehörlose einzubeziehen und unterstützt das Dolmetschsystem für Gebärdensprache. Der JFD ist eine politisch unabhängige nationale Organisation mit begrenzten finanziellen Ressourcen.
