, Valerius Harpokration (griechisch Οὐαλέριο … Valerius Harpokration (griechisch Οὐαλέριος Ἁρποκρατίων) war ein alexandrinischer Grammatiker der Kaiserzeit. Seine Lebensdaten sind nicht bekannt. Aufgrund der von ihm zitierten Autoren kann er frühestens unter Kaiser Tiberius gelebt haben. Falls er mit dem in der Historia Augusta als Lehrer des Lucius Verus erwähnten Harpokration identisch ist, hat er im 2. Jahrhundert gelebt. In der Suda wird er als Verfasser eines Lexikons attischer Redner (Λεξικὸν τῶν δέκα ῥητόρων) und einer Sammlung geflügelter Worte (ἀνϑηρῶν συναγωγή, verloren) erwähnt. Das Lexikon war vermutlich eine der Quellen der Suda. Es enthält alphabetisch geordnete Bemerkungen zu Personen und Erklärungen von Begriffen (insbesondere aus den Bereichen Recht und Handel). La obra tiene una enorme importancia, pues contiene una enorme cantidad de información sobre las leyes públicas y civiles de Atenas, y sobre temas anticuarios, históricos y literarios de los que no sabríamos nada de no ser por ella, pues la mayoría de las obras de las que Harpocración compiló se han perdido, al parecer desde épocas remotas. Por esto el autor de la Suda y otros gramáticos posteriores tomaron como fuente en muchos puntos a Harpocración. Todo lo que sabemos sobre su biografía está contenido en una o dos líneas de la Suda, donde se le califica de retórico de Alejandría, y aparte del ya mencionado diccionario le atribuye una ἀνθηρὣν συναγωγή, hoy perdida. As nearly all the lexicons to the Greek orators have been lost, Harpocration's work is especially valuable. Amongst his authorities were the writers of (histories of Attica), the grammarian Didymus Chalcenterus, Dionysius of Halicarnassus, and the lexicographer . , Valerius Harpokration (griechisch Οὐαλέριο … Valerius Harpokration (griechisch Οὐαλέριος Ἁρποκρατίων) war ein alexandrinischer Grammatiker der Kaiserzeit. Seine Lebensdaten sind nicht bekannt.
