Verbrechen der Wehrmacht 1941 bis 1944“), die als Wanderausstellung ab Mitte der 1990er Jahre zum ersten Mal die Kriegsverbrechen der regulären deutschen Streitkräfte während des Zweiten Weltkriegs auch für eine breite Öffentlichkeit dokumentierte. Heer trug damit – gegen Widerstände von vor allem rechtsextremen und geschichtsrevisionistischen Kreisen – maßgeblich dazu bei, die im geschichtswissenschaftlichen Umfeld bereits nachgewiesene Widerlegung des Mythos der vermeintlich „sauberen Wehrmacht“ auch im Bewusstsein der deutschen Bevölkerung zu verbreiten.
