Schinas tötete König Georg I. in der Nähe des Weißen Turms in Thessaloniki durch einen Schuss ins Herz. Er wurde daraufhin sofort verhaftet. Nach der Gerichtsverhandlung wurde er für unzurechnungsfähig erklärt.
