Estudià a l'Escola Normal de Quimper per a treballar de mestre, però el 1938 es va unir al Partit Nacional Bretó. Ell i foren reclutats per Celestin Lainé per a formar part de la milícia paramilitar Kadervenn, que aplegava els antics militants del grup Gwenn ha Du. El 1938 participà en les maniobres secretes que va fer a Lanvaux, al centre de Bretanya. Des del 1941 va escriure articles a les revistes a i amb . Una vegada donat d'alta de les ferides va viure a Alemanya, i d'ací, gràcies a alguns amics gal·lesos del Plaid Cymru, es va establir a Irlanda. El 1950 va reiniciar els seus estudis a la Universitat de Dublín i trobà feina al servei d'aeronàutica irlandesa. Es casà amb Bríd Ní Dhochartaigh de Donegal el 1953. Ha tingut sis fills. El 1959 va fundar amb Yann Fouéré la revista per tal d'aplegar als nacionalistes bretons exiliats. El 1961, amb Yann Fouéré, i , respectivament president i secretari general de Plaid Cymru, fundaren a l'illa de Rhos (Gal·les, la Lliga Cèltica, moviment que volia representar els diferents partits nacionalistes de les regions cèltiques. El 1972 Breton News canvià el nom per Carn, i esdevé òrgan oficial de la Lliga Cèltica, de la que en fou nomenat secretari general (1961-1985) i posteriorment responsable de la secció internacional. , Alan Heusaff, also Alan Heussaff (23 July … Alan Heusaff, also Alan Heussaff (23 July 1921 in Saint-Yvi, Finistère – 3 November 1999 in Galway) was a Breton nationalist, linguist, dictionary compiler, prolific journalist and lifetime campaigner for solidarity between the Celtic peoples. A co-founder of the Celtic League in 1961, he was its first general secretary until 1984. A native Breton speaker, he trained as a primary school teacher but in his early twenties joined the separatist Bezen Perrot militia (1943–44), for which he was sentenced to death in absentia at a court martial by the post-World War II French government, but eventually amnestied in 1967. After studying mathematics and physics at the University of Marburg, Germany, he arrived in Ireland in 1950. He continued his studies at University College, Galway, and, on graduation, joined the Irish Meteorological Service, becoming a naturalised Irish citizen in 1955. An aviation meteorologist, he devoted his spare time and retirement to peaceful activism, promoting the languages, culture and autonomy of the Celtic countries. Among the honours he received for his work was the 1986 (annual Pearse award) presented by the President of Ireland, Patrick Hillery. In the same year, at the Welsh Eisteddfod, he was elected as a Bard of the Welsh Gorsedd. Impliqué dans la guerre pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, il est l'un des responsables du Bezen Perrot à partir de décembre 1943 et devient sous-officier de la Waffen-SS dans les derniers mois du conflit. Après la défaite du Troisième Reich, il s'enfuit en Irlande pour échapper à la peine de mort prononcée contre lui par les tribunaux d'exceptions français.
