En las elecciones parlamentarias de 1945, … En las elecciones parlamentarias de 1945, correspondientes al período 1945-1949, se escogieron 147 diputados y se renovaron 25 de los 45 cupos de senador. La derecha, conformada por conservadores y liberales, logró imponerse esta vez a la radical-socialista Alianza Democrática, por un amplio margen, recuperando el control del congreso. Los partidos de gobierno se unieron en la Alianza Democrática, integrada por radicales, socialistas, democráticos y comunistas. La Falange Nacional integró en algunas circunscripciones listas comunes con la Alianza Democrática, y en otras pactó con la derecha. El Partido Socialista Auténtico, partido escindido del Partido Socialista de Chile por una disputa entre las secciones de Marmaduque Grove y Salvador Allende, presentó listas propias en la mayoría del territorio, aliándose con la oposición en otras. Durante estas elecciones el Partido Comunista de Chile se encontraba fuera de la legalidad por el decreto de Arturo Alessandri, llamado Ley de Seguridad Interior del Estado, que impedía la existencia de partidos revolucionarios. Por ello, concurrió a las elecciones bajo el nombre de Partido Progresista Nacional. Tras la elección, el presidente Juan Antonio Ríos formó el 14 de mayo de 1945 un nuevo gabinete integrado por los partidos Radical, Democrático, Socialista Auténtico y Falange Nacional., Socialista Auténtico y Falange Nacional.
