Erlichmanit kristallisiert im kubischen Kristallsystem und findet sich meist in Form winziger Körner (20 μm) in Platin-Eisen-Legierungen (Ferroplatin), Platin-Nuggets oder als Einschlüsse in Chromit. Selten werden auch abgerundete pyritoedrische Kristalle von bis zu einem Millimeter Größe entdeckt.
